Beach Permit at Worimi Conservation Lands

GUUDJI YIIGU (Goo-jee ik-koo) – A Worimi Welcome.

Beach and dune driving is a top attraction at Stockton Sand Dunes and Worimi Conservation Lands, offering over 19 km of beachfront and 350 hectares of dune driving in the Recreational Vehicle Area. This is one of NSW's largest coastal dune driving zones. A four-wheel drive vehicle is required, and all vehicles must be registered and display a valid Worimi Conservation Lands beach vehicle permit. Road rules apply under the Road Transport (General) Act 2005, as the area is classified as a road-related zone.

There are two types of permits available:

1. Beach Vehicle Permits

2. Recreational Vehicle Area Permits including quads & motorbikes.

The Worimi Conservation Lands are located in the Port Stephens area of Anna Bay, north of Newcastle. Vehicle access is available for 4WDs.

There are three entrances to the Worimi Conservation Lands:

- via Lavis Lane at Williamtown

- via Gan Gan Road at Anna Bay

- via 4WD entry - Fern Bay (Fern Bay Seaside Village)

Permits are available at:

Port Stephens Visitor Information Centre – 60 Victoria Parade, NELSON BAY NSW, or

BP Service Station (Anna Bay) – 135 Gan Gan Road, ANNA BAY NSW

BP Service Station (Salt Ash) – Corner Richardson and Nelson Bay Road, SALT ASH NSW

Pearl Energy Service Station (Williamtown) – Corner Nelson Bay Road and Lavis Lane, WILLIAMTOWN NSW

Fines will apply for vehicles without permits.

The PDF below outlines the rules of driving safely on the dunes.

Dirt Drive acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate, and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
